New Application Instructions

Thoroughly reviewing the standards for the practice area for which you are applying for certification will allow you to easily complete the online application. Failure to read the standards prior to beginning the application may impede your progress.

Portions of the applications may be prepared ahead of time in a separate word document and uploaded into the application. The main components of the application will include the following:

• General Information (Contact information, date of bar admission)
• CLE (Please obtain your updated CLE transcript from the Ohio Supreme Court Web site to ensure you meet the certification CLE requirements over a three year time period. ) Click here for a list of courses pre-approved certification CLE hours.
• Peer Review (You will need the names and e-mails of at least 7 individuals who meet the requirements according to the standards.)
• Statement of Good Standing (You will need your certificate of good standing from the Ohio Supreme Court.)
• Professional Liability Insurance (You will need the declaration page from your liability insurance carrier)
• Application Fee ($200 OSBA member / $250 non-member)

Re-certification Application Instructions

Thoroughly reviewing the standards for the practice area for which you are applying for recertification will allow you to easily complete the online application. Failure to read the standards prior to beginning the application may impede your progress.

• General Information (Contact information, date of bar admission)
• Statement of Substantial Involvement (It is especially important that you review the standards for your particular area of practice. This portion may be compiled in a separate word document and uploaded into the application.)
• CLE (Please obtain your updated CLE transcript from the Ohio Supreme Court Web site to ensure you meet the certification CLE requirements over a three year time period. ) Click here for a list of courses pre-approved certification CLE hours.
• Peer Review (You will need the names and e-mails of at least 7 individuals who meet the requirements according to the standards.)

Annual Reporting Form Instructions

The main components of the annual report will include the following:

• Attest to continued substantial involvement
• CLE - report 12 hours of specialty CLE every other year of certification. • Attest to continued good standing and sufficient liability coverage.
• Annual Reporting Fee ($125 OSBA member / $175 non-member)

Paralegal Certification Instructions

Thoroughly reviewing the requirements for certification will allow you to easily complete the online application. Failure to read the requirements prior to beginning the application may impede your progress.

Portions of the application may be prepared ahead of time in a separate word document and uploaded into the application. The main components of the application will include the following:

• General Information (Contact information)
• Professional Experience (It is especially important that you review the requirements for professional experience.)
• Educational Experience (List the sufficient information needed to show the required education.)
• CLE (must show attendance of a minimum of 12 credit hours of continuing legal education. At least two and a half credit hours (2.5 total) of the 12 shall be Professional Conduct. For attendance of a NON-OSBA sponsored CLE course, applicant must have a certificate of attendance.
• Professional references (You will need the names and e-mails of at least 3 individuals who meet the criteria according to the requirements.)
• Application Fee ($150 OSBA member / $200 non-member)
